Small Planar Traveling Waves in Two Dimensional Networks of Coupled Oscillators
نویسنده
چکیده
The existence of several small planar traveling waves with arbitrary direction of propagation is shown for two-dimensional cubic networks of oscillators with linear nearest-neighbor coupling. The analysis is based on a spatial dynamics reformulation of the relevant advance-delay equation. Whereas important aspects of the analysis are discontinuous in the direction of travel, continuity of the traveling wave is shown with respect to the direction.

Traveling Waves of Some Symmetric Planar Flows of Non-Newtonian Fluids
We present some variants of Burgers-type equations for incompressible and isothermal planar flow of viscous non-Newtonian fluids based on the Cross, the Carreau and the power-law rheology models, and on a symmetry assumption on the flow. We numerically solve the associated traveling wave equations by using industrial data and in order to validate the models we prove existence and uniqueness of ...
متن کاملMonotonicity of Phaselocked Solutions in Chains and Arrays of Nearest-neighbor Coupled Oscillators∗
The existence of phaselocked solutions in chains of weakly coupled oscillators is proven rigorously. The solutions show interesting monotonicity which plays an important role for the existence proofs. Under some conditions, we show that two-dimensional arrays can be decomposed into two one-dimensional problems. With this theory of decomposition, target patterns can be explained. Numerical resul...
متن کاملTraveling Waves in a Chain of Pulse-Coupled Oscillators
We derive conditions for the existence of traveling wave solutions in a chain of pulse-coupled integrate-and-fire oscillators with nearest-neighbor interactions and distributed delays. A linear stability analysis of the traveling waves is carried out in terms of perturbations of the firing times of the oscillators. It is shown how traveling waves destabilize when the detuning between oscillator...

These systems are known to exhibit rich collective behavior, from synchrony an...
متن کاملTraveling Electrical Waves in Cortex Insights from Phase Dynamics and Speculation on a Computational Role
The theory of coupled phase oscillators provides a framework to understand the emergent properties of networks of neuronal oscillators. When the architecture of the network is dominated by short-range connections, the pattern of electrical output is predicted to correspond to traveling plane and rotating waves, in addition to synchronized output. We argue that this theory provides the foundatio...
